Man Fatally Stabbed in Pasadena Parking Lot, Suspect Detained

Credit Google MapsOne man died and another was being detained by police following a stabbing in the parking lot of a CVS Pharmacy in Pasadena on Friday night, authorities said.The killing took place about 8:14 p.m. outside the business at 20 E. Orange Grove Blvd., according to Pasadena police Lt. Carolyn Gordon.© OpenStreetMap contributorsThe victim, described as a man in his early-20s, succumbed to his wounds at a hospital, she said.Police received several calls the suspect was stabbing a man in the parking lot and officers in the immediate area responded, authorities said.Officers quickly arrived on scene and were directed by witnesses north through an alley where they spotted a man matching the description of the attacker trying to flee the area, Gordon said. He was taken into custody without a struggle and ultimately arrested in connection with the stabbing.The suspect’s identity was not immediately available. He was also described as a man in his 20s.A motive was not clear, although Gordon said investigators did not believe the incident to be gang related.A bloodied knife along with other items of evidence were recovered from the scene, police said. No further details regarding the circumstances of the deadly stabbing were available as the investigation remained in its early stages.The victim’s identity is withheld at this time pending next of kin notification. Anyone with information can reach the Pasadena Police Department at 626-744-4241.
