Kolkata: In yet another move to conserve energy, Housing and Infrastructure Development Corporation (HIDCO) has introduced battery-operated golf carts for the visitors of Eco Park, who wish to go to the far-off sites.The vehicles will function from the statue Tin Tin at the Café Ekante jetty to the Eiffel Tower replica. Travelling in the cart will be free. The carts have been deployed after it was found that because of the distance, many visitors were not visiting the Eiffel Tower replica and the Japanese garden. Experts from Japan had visited the Japanese garden when it was being constructed. There is a pagoda, a wish tank and a Japanese restaurant at the site. Eco Park is the country’s biggest urban park that stands on 480 acres of land, which is surrounded by 112 acres of waterbody. It has become the most important tourist destination in the vicinity of Kolkata and tourists from all over the country and abroad have been visiting the place. The miniature replicas of the seven wonders, replica of toy train of Darjeeling and butterfly garden are the favourite spots at the park, along with the jogger’s alley and a special cycling track.
